Jim Bowden of ESPN.com and MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM reports that there are now six teams in trade discussions with Padres regarding Chase Headley. It's not clear which teams are currently involved in talks, but Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reported earlier this month that the Dodgers, Pirates, Indians, Orioles, Diamondbacks and two unidentified teams were believed to have "some level of interest" in a possible deal. For what it's worth, Bowden concludes that the 28-year-old third baseman will likely be traded by the July 31 non-waiver deadline. Headley is making $3.475 million this season and remains under team control though 2014, so he's a pretty valuable trade chip.
