Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that the Cubs have signed Nate Schierholtz to a one-year contract.

And the Yankees miss out on another one of their targets. Schierholtz can play some defense at the corner outfield spots but has posted an uninspiring .270/.319/.409 batting line over six seasons. He could wind up starting in right field if Brett Jackson begins the season at Triple-A.
