Jered Weaver pitched two-hit ball over seven scoreless innings and struck out nine in beating the A's on Thursday.

It may have been a case of too little, too late, but Weaver salvaged one game in the four-game series with a gem of a performance after missing one turn with a sore shoulder. At 78-66, the Angels are still 4 1/2 games back of the A's for second place in the AL West and 3 back (4 in the loss column) of the Yankees for the second wild card.
