Jason Vargas yielded six runs -- four earned -- over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Rays Sunday. Vargas did strike out six and walk just one, but was knocked around for nine hits. It's the fourth straight outing that he has allowed four earned runs or more and he hasn't gone more than six innings in any of those starts. The 3.49 ERA Vargas had on July 6 is up to 4.19 on July 31.
