Jason Vargas was handed a no-decision after allowing one run over 6 1/3 innings in his season debut Thursday against the Athletics. Vargas was very solid, giving up just two hits while walking a pair and striking out three. He was pulled in the seventh inning after walking Coco Crisp and getting Jonny Gomes to fly out, but Shawn Kelley gave up a two-run blast to Yoenis Cespedes to put the Athletics ahead. Vargas wouldn't really be worthy of fantasy attention if he pitched with many other teams around the majors, but he'll continue to have some value as a spot-starter thanks to Safeco Field.
