Jason Vargas took a complete game loss in Monday's game against the Orioles. Vargas allowed three runs on eight hits, throwing 73 of his 105 pitches for strikes. He's pitched at least seven innings in five of his last seven starts, and continues to be a valuable innings eater for the Mariners. He likely would have been in line for a win if not for giving up a two-run homer to Nick Markakis in the third inning.
