Jason Vargas threw an "aggressive" 50-pitch bullpen session on Friday without any issues, and could progress to a minor league rehab assignment by the end of next week. Vargas has been sidelined since mid-June when he underwent emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from his left armpit. He will likely need one or two starts in the minors before rejoining the Angels' rotation in August.
