Jason Vargas struggled in his return from the disabled list Tuesday, allowing four runs on eight hits and a walk over just 4 1/3 innings against the Yankees. Vernon Wells took Vargas deep in the second, and Alfonso Soriano helped to chase him from the game with a two-run shot in the fifth. It's certainly not an ideal performance, but we'll cut the left-hander a little slack since he hadn't started a big league game in nearly two months. He'll have a good chance to rebound this weekend at home against the Astros.
