Jason Vargas struck out five while tossing seven shutout innings in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Twins. Vargas allowed just four hits -- all singles -- while walking a pair. He was at 111 pitches after seven frames, so Royals manager Ned Yost called upon Wade Davis and Greg Holland to close things out. Vargas has been rock-solid all year for Kansas City, as his ERA currently sits at 3.32 and hasn't gone higher than 3.76 at any point. He'll try to keep it rolling next week in a two-start week versus the Rays and Tigers.
