Jason Vargas scattered five hits and one run across eight innings on Monday, improving to 10-13 in Seattle's 4-2 win over the A's. Vargas struck out a season-high 10 while issuing zero free passes for just the fourth time in 32 starts. He'll finish 2011 with a 4.25 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 131/59 K/BB ratio compiled over 201 innings. As long as he re-signs with the Mariners this offseason, Vargas will remain a viable fantasy option in 2012.
