Jason Vargas mowed down the slumping Tigers in Wednesday's 2-1 win in Seattle, allowing just one run on five hits in eight innings of work. Vargas struck out six and walked none in moving to 4-2 on the season. Now the owner of a 2.79 ERA and 0.97 WHIP, Vargas remains a completely different pitcher at home than he is on the road, but making at least half his starts in Safeco Field, he should have what it takes to remain mixed-league valuable. You may want to keep him benched on Tuesday, however, where he'll take on the Red Sox in Boston.
