Jason Vargas did not receive a qualifying offer. The southpaw posted a 4.02 ERA and 1.39 WHIP this past season while missing nearly two months of action due to surgery to remove a blood clot in his left armpit. Los Angeles is still interested in working out a multi-year deal with the impending free agent, so Vargas might return anyway. Vargas has also expressed interest in returning to the pitching-needy Angels.
