Jason Vargas (arm) allowed four runs on four hits and three walks over 4 2/3 innings in his first rehab start with Triple-A Salt Lake Thursday. He struck out two while surrendering three homers. Vargas got his pitch count up to 72, so he should be sufficiently stretched out to rejoin the Angels' rotation, but it's possible they'll give him another outing in hopes for better results.
