Jason Vargas allowed six runs in four innings against the Angels on Friday. The Royals won, but Vargas did not factor in the decision. Vargas was lucky to be facing Matt Shoemaker, who allowed eight runs. The home run was his nemesis on Friday, as he surrendered taters to Mike Trout, Albert Pujols and C.J. Cron. Cron hit two out of the park, effectively ending Vargas' night with a two-run shot in the fifth. Despite the poor performance, Vargas still has an ERA of 3.65 and a 7-3 record on the year.
