Jason Vargas allowed just two runs over eight innings in a loss Sunday against the Mariners. Pitching against his former team, Vargas came away with easily his best start of the season, but was unable to do enough for the win. It was a questionable decision for the Angels to bring him out for the eight inning, where he gave up the game-winning home run to Michael Morse. Vargas managed a quality start despite the loss. He held the Mariners to just six hits and finished with seven strikeouts.
