Jason Vargas allowed just two earned runs over eight innings but took a no-decision Wednesday versus the Cardinals. The Cardinals won the game in the 11th inning. Vargas yielded runs in the second and seventh innings but was otherwise solid, lowering his ERA slightly from 3.39 to 3.28. He's been locked in now in three straight starts and will try to keep it rolling next week against the Yankees.
