Jason Hammel struggled in his return to the mound Monday, giving up five runs - four earned - on seven hits and three walks over five innings of work in a loss to the Yankees. He struck out three and was taken deep by Curtis Granderson. It's Hammel's first outing since he was skipped over last week due to a knee injury, and he obviously wasn't sharp. He was probably due for a clunker, though, after allowing two or fewer runs in all six of his previous outings. Hammel will take a 2.68 ERA and 1.10 WHIP into this weekend's start in DC.
