Jason Hammel allowed two unearned runs over six innings Thursday in a 10-2 win over the Athletics. Both runs were unearned due to a fielding error by J.J. Hardy in the second inning. Hammel gave up just three hits and two walks on the evening, but he only struck out two batters. He at least kept the ball on the ground for the most part -- a nice change of pace from his recent starts -- but he's going to need to strike out more batters to remain valuable in mixed leagues. He'll carry a 3-1 record and a 3.82 ERA into a favorable matchup against the Mariners in Seattle next week.
