Los Angeles Angels first baseman Jared Walsh is sitting for the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins. Walsh has appeared in each of the last four games, going 6-for-16 with three doubles, a home run, and a pair of RBI. He should be expected back in the lineup for the second half of the doubleheader. Phil Gosselin will start at first base and bat second against Twins' lefty Lewis Thorpe.
Joe Madden is out of his mind, not starting either Walsh or Ohtani in the first game of doubleheader when in fact they both need at bats against lefthanders to help them learn to hit major league lefties. Walsh had been raking the ball as had Ohtani, then he starts both of them against a very good rightie and they both strike out 3 times. Mainly because he had benched them for game one and took them out of playing rythum. Shame on u Madden.
