James Shields held the White Sox to one run in seven innings Wednesday in a 2-1 Royals victory. Shields was left with a no-decision because the Kansas City offense didn't break through for the lead until the top of the ninth inning. But the right-hander pitched really well, scattering six hits and a walk while striking out seven White Sox batters. He'll carry a 3.58 ERA and 1.27 WHIP into his next start at home against the Twins.
