Jake Westbrook allowed five runs before recording an out on Wednesday evening, ultimately allowing seven runs on eight hits and one walk in 4 1/3 innings of St. Louis' 9-8, 13-inning loss to the Reds. Westbrook served up a home run to Chris Heisey on the first pitch of the game before allowing a single to Edgar Renteria and walking Joey Votto. Brandon Phillips then laced a two-RBI triple before Jay Bruce hit a two-run homer. The nightmare start comes just one outing after Westbrook held the Rays to two hits in seven scoreless innings of work. Tonight was the fourth time in his past five starts that he's allowed at least four runs. For the season, he now owns a 5.34 ERA and 1.61 WHIP.
