Ivan Nova pitched well in Sunday's victory over the Red Sox, surrendering two runs on eight hits over 7 1/3 strong innings. Nova punched out four and didn't walk a batter in the game. The Red Sox scored a run in the first on an RBI single by Jonathan Herrera, then Nova held them off the board until Mike Napoli's solo shot in the sixth. He improves to 2-1 on the season and will carry a 5.94 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 8/5 K/BB ratio into Saturday's start against the Rays in Tampa Bay.
