Indians general manager Mike Chernoff told MLB Network Radio on Sunday that he expects Miller (knee) to return from the 10-day disabled list in a couple weeks.
EDGE Analysis
It's not the firmest recovery timetable for Miller, but it mostly aligns with what was expected after it was reported Aug. 25 that the reliever would be shut down for about a week before resuming a throwing program. Since having Miller at full strength for the postseason is the Indians' top priority, the Indians are likely to take a conservative approach with his recovery from right patella tendinitis, an issue that has resulted in two DL stints in the past month. Until Miller is back in the fold, Joe Smith and Bryan Shaw will act as the primary setup options for closer Cody Allen.
