In what probably will be his last appearance of the season, Sergio Santos barely survived another ninth inning collapse, earning his 30th save while yielding a pair of runs on two hits and three walks. He also struck out the side. But that's small consolation for a 44-pitch outing in which he nearly blew his seventh save opportunity. In August, manager Ozzie Guillen committed to Santos as the team's closer next spring. With new leadership on the way, it will be interesting to see if Santos -- owning a 9.72 ERA this month -- remains the frontrunner.
