Wade is one of at least five players competing to be the Angels' Opening Day shortstop, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
David Fletcher is set to open the season as the starter at second base, but his middle-infield partner remains in question. The Angels neglected to sign a big-name shortstop in the offseason, so it appears that a spring position battle between Wade, Matt Duffy, Luis Rengifo, Jack Mayfield and Andrew Velazquez will determine the team's regular starter at the position. Los Angeles acquired Wade from the Yankees in November after he slashed .268/.354/.323 with 31 runs and 17 stolen bases last season.
