Huston Street slammed the door on the Dodgers in the ninth inning on Sunday, preserving a 3-1 victory in their season opener. The veteran closer needed just 11 pitches to dispose of Andre Ethier, Juan Uribe and A.J. Ellis in order, including a strikeout. With free agent acquisition Joaquin Benoit joining the Padres bullpen, Street will have to pitch well in order to keep a stranglehold on the ninth inning role, but so far so good.
