To make room for Hoying, the Rangers placed catcher Bryan Holaday on the disabled list with a thumb injury. Hoying, a 27-year old outfielder, has shown some power over the past few seasons in the Rangers organization. He hit 26 home runs in 2014 and 23 in 2015. So far this year in Triple-A, Hoying holds a .280 batting average with nine home runs and 43 RBI in 243 at-bats.
