Hoover surrendered two runs on two hits and one walk over 1.1 innings in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Rockies. He recorded two of his four outs via strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Hoover maintains a 3.00 ERA on the season thanks in large part to his career-high 13.5 K/9 rate and the ability to avoid the long ball. The latter skill escaped him Sunday, as both of the two runs Hoover gave up came on solo homers, with Chris Valaika and Charlie Blackmon both taking him deep. Despite his poor outing, Hoover remains a key part of the Diamondbacks' late-inning mix and could warrant some consideration for closing duties if veteran Fernando Rodney is eventually removed from the role at some point.
