Holliday (thumb) was officially placed on the disabled list Saturday
EDGE Analysis
Holliday took a pitch off the hand in Thursday's game and sustained a broken thumb, which figures to keep him out for close to a month, at the minimum. He'll meet with a specialist on Monday to determine whether or not surgery is necessary, and if it is, the rest of Holliday's season could be in jeopardy. For now, Stephen Piscotty and Randal Grichuk will handle most of the work at the corner outfield spots, though Holliday's injury could prompt the team to make an acquisition. St. Louis officially recalled right-hander Luke Weaver on Saturday to fill Holliday's roster spot.
