In Tulowitzki's(quad) absence, it would seem Ryan Goins and Barney would likely platoon at shortstop, as they had been doing at second base prior to Devon Travis' return. But on Saturday, with right-hander Rick Porcello on the mound, manager John Gibbons went with the right-handed Barney. It was just Barney's fifth start at the position in the last five seasons. But, the decision paid off as Barney notched his first game with multiple extra-base hits since July 2014.
