Hicks (right hamstring strain) was placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to Sept. 1.
EDGE Analysis
Hicks wasn't originally considered to be a candidate for the disabled list, as the Yankees had plenty of roster spots following the Sept. 1 expansion. It looks like the team has changed their mind, however, and will place Hicks on the DL to free up one more spot. Hicks could be a candidate to rejoin the team for the season's final two weeks, though it remains a possibility the team shuts him down in an effort to give their younger outfielders additional opportunities.
