Hellickson (9-11) pitched admirably on Saturday in a losing effort, allowing one run on four hits and two walks across six innings in a 3-0 loss to the Padres. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
This was one of Hellickson's best starts of the season, but his offense couldn't support him with Robbie Erlin twirling a gem for the Padres. Aside from a one-inning start two weeks ago, Hellickson has been fantastic as of late. Over his last five games, Hellickson has allowed just seven runs on 20 hits. His career-high groundball rate is likely contributing to his success and the Diamondbacks will hope he can carry this form over into next season. Hellickson will have to square off against Dallas Keuchel and the Astros in his final start of the season next Saturday.
