Hazelbaker went 1-for-3 with a solo homer in his first MLB start Wednesday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
His long ball accounted for the Cards' only run (and one of just two hits) against dominant Pittsburgh starter Juan Nicasio. As a 28-year-old rookie who's serving as the fourth outfielder in Tommy Pham's (oblique) absence, his fantasy appeal remains limited outside NL-only formats, though it's worth keeping in mind that the Cardinals have had success with late-20s breakouts in the outfield before -- think Ryan Ludwick and Rick Ankiel. That's not to say we should expect great things from Hazelbaker, but it's worth keeping in mind that he's now the natural inheritor if one of the starting outfielders goes down with an injury.
