Hart declined his outright assignment from the Mariners and will become a free agent, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports. The club designated Hart for assignment last week after activating Jesus Montero from the suspended list. As expected, Hart declined the assignment and will hit free agency this offseason. The 32-year-old Hart played in only 68 games this season, battling hamstring and knee injuries for much of the year.
