Harrell (groin) cleared outright waivers and has the option to decline an assignment to Triple-A and become a free agent, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Stefan Stevenson reports.
EDGE Analysis
He was on the 60-day DL at the end of the season with a right groin strain, but the injury is not expected to linger long into the offseason. Harrell was dreadful after being traded from Atlanta to Texas, posting a 5.60 ERA and 15:13 K:BB in 17.2 innings. Even his success with the Braves seemed dubious, as his 5.18 xFIP and 21:12 K:BB in 29.1 innings did not signify continued success. He should serve as a organizational depth piece, whether he accepts his assignment to Triple-A or goes elsewhere.
