Guyer (ankle) will serve as the designated hitter in one of the Rays' minor-league games Friday, Steve Carney of WDAE 620 AM reports. Guyer has been tending to a mild ankle sprain the last few days, but it doesn't seem to be anything that will jeopardize his availability for Opening Day. If the Rays decide to keep five outfielders, Guyer should be viewed as the frontrunner to claim that final spot.
