Guthrie pitched six shutout innings, giving up five hits and two walks while striking out three, to pick up his fourth win of the season Wednesday against the Reds. Guthrie (4-2) pitched out of a bases-loaded, one-out predicament in the first inning and won his third straight start. The Royals tied a club record with 24 consecutive scoreless innings, but that streak ended when Ryan Madson relieved Guthrie and allowed a two-out RBI double to Brandon Phillips. The Royals, winners of five of their last six games, are off to the best start in franchise history, and Guthrie will look to pick up his fourth straight win in his next scheduled start Tuesday against the Yankees.
