Grilli threw a scoreless inning with a strikeout in Sunday's spring training loss to Detroit. "Things are progressing as I expected. I just want to get a little more feel for some things. I've probably got four or five more outings. I'm right on track," he told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
EDGE Analysis
Grilli gave up a home run in his spring debut Thursday, but looked much better Sunday. It looks like he'll be ready for Opening Day after his season ended last year due to a ruptured left Achilles tendon that delayed his spring debut. Manager Fredi Gonzalez recently suggested he may mix and match in the later innings with Grilli, Arodys Vizcaino, and Jim Johnson, rather than open the year with a set closer.
