Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com reports that there is "little doubt" the Red Sox will sign David Ortiz to an extension, and an agreement could be announced "in the next few days." Red Sox owner John Henry and Ortiz's agent, Fernando Cuza, are both in Fort Myers, Florida at the team's spring training complex, and the thinking is that discussing a new deal for Big Papi is one of the items on the agenda. Ortiz will make $15 million in the final year of his current deal but is reportedly wanting another $15 million for 2015, which is a perfectly reasonable request. The Red Sox could also tack on an option year.
