Gonzalez was removed from Sunday's game against the Blue Jays in the bottom of the second inning with a left knee injury, Julia Morales of ROOT Sports reports.

Gonzalez was struck on the knee during his at-bat in the top half of the inning, but was able to take his base and remain in the game. However, after returning to the dugout afterward, the Astros decided it was best to hold him out for further evaluation. The Astros are off the schedule Monday, so Gonzalez will have a full 48 hours to recover before the team begins its series with the Cardinals on Tuesday.
