Gonzalez allowed a single run on three hits and seven walks while striking out eight batters in a no-decision during Wednesday's win over Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw threw just 58 of 105 pitches for strikes, and allowing a single run after walking seven batters was probably extremely fortunate. Still, Gonzalez worked his way out of jams, and the Diamondbacks stranded 10 runners. For the campaign, he sports a 1.80 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 8.0 K/9, but Gonzalez's 4.08 FIP suggests there are likely tougher times ahead. Although, it's worth noting that the Washington offense should continue to provide plenty of run support to help him pad his win total. Gonzalez sets up to make two starts next week, beginning with a road date against Baltimore.
