Gonzalez allowed a single run on four hits and three walks while striking out five batters over 6.2 innings during Sunday's loss to Philadelphia in the first game of their doubleheader. He didn't factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
This was a nice rebound start from Gonzalez after he allowed three home runs and six runs to the Orioles in his previous outing. Home runs continue to be an issue, as he allowed his eighth of the season Sunday and sports a 1.4 HR/9, which is his highest mark since debuting in 2008. Additionally, Gonzalez's .243 BABIP and 5.16 FIP suggest his current 2.47 ERA probably has negative regression ahead. It isn't out of the question to be selective with the opponents you start him against going forward, either. Gonzalez lines up for a road start against the Braves in his next trip to the hill.
