Gio Gonzalez battled a bout of wildness in a no-decision against the Cardinals in Game 5 of the NLDS on Friday, surrendering three runs on five hits over his five innings of work. Gonzalez also walked four on the evening while striking out five. He cruised into the fifth inning with a 6-1 lead, but lost command of the strike zone. A pair of hits, two walks (one with the bases loaded) and a wild pitch allowed two runs to score in the frame. Fortunately, he was able to strand the bases loaded by getting Yadier Molina on a fly out to right on his final pitch of the night. Still, he left the game with a 6-3 lead and would've earned the victory if not for an epic meltdown in the ninth inning.
