Giants general manager Brian Sabean said Thursday that he expects Jeremy Affeldt to return in 2012. Sabean believes they will either pick up his $5 million club option for 2012 or negotiate a new deal. Affeldt, 32, posted a 2.63 ERA and 54/24 K/BB ratio over 61 2/3 innings this season. The southpaw needed season-ending surgery in early-September after cutting his right hand in a kitchen accident, but is expected to be ready for spring training.
