Giancarlo Stanton told Joe Frisaro of MLB.com that he could be open to an extension with the Marlins. The Marlins have made no secret of their interest in keeping Stanton around for the long-term, but the young slugger understandably wants to see that the team is headed in the right direction before talking. "In order for the team to have security, that doesn't happen in two seconds," said Stanton. "That happens over a season or over two seasons. You show me that, and we can get something going." Stanton was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter and remains under team control through 2016. There's no rush for a resolution, but he's only going to get more expensive and a trade would likely be inevitable if no progress is made.
