Gentry (back) was activated from the DL and designated for assignment by the Angels on Saturday, Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports.

With Gentry's 20-day rehab window closing, the Angeles were forced to make a move, and they decided to DFA the 32-year-old rather than return him to the roster. Gentry has hit just .147/.237/.176 in 39 plate appearances in the major this year and he struggled throughout his rehab assignment, so it's a stretch to think another team will pluck him off waivers.
