Geltz, who pitched well in his first two appearances after getting called up from Triple-A last Friday, gave up three hits (including two homers) and three earned runs over an inning. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old righty had fired 1.1 innings of shutout, no-hit ball over his first two trips to the mound upon his return, but was touched up by the Indians on Tuesday. Things got started on the wrong foot when Geltz gave up an inning-opening single to Mike Napoli, and then went significantly downhill when he surrendered subsequent back-to-back homers to Jose Ramirez and Juan Uribe. While he finished the frame strong with consecutive whiffs of Yan Gomes and Tyler Naquin, the damage was already done. Geltz's rather unorthodox stat line in his latest major league stint includes an 11.57 ERA but four strikeouts over just 2.1 innings as well.
