Geltz may be a candidate for save opportunities with the news that Brad Boxberger (abdomen) will miss eight weeks. "We have a number of guys that could try to fill that void for the first month of the year," manager Kevin Cash told the Tampa Tribune. "We'll have some opportunities that will present itself for more bullpen arms."
EDGE Analysis
Alex Colome seems like the best bet for saves, as he was slated for the setup role before Boxberger went down, but Cash is keeping the door open for Geltz, Xavier Cedeno, and even Danny Farquhar and Ryan Webb to possibly see some chances. Geltz turned in a rather pedestrian (for a back-end arm) 13.0% K-BB% last season and had a 4.32 second-half ERA.
