Gee won't start Tuesday's game against the Astros and will likely be available out of the bullpen, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Jeff Banister has decided to go with Nick Martinez as the team's new fifth starter for the time being after Gee failed to impress in his first start with the club last week against the Mets, as the right-hander conceded four runs on eight hits (including three home runs) and four walks over 3.1 innings. With Tyson Ross (shoulder) set to rejoin the Rangers by the end of the week and Cole Hamels (oblique) on track to come off the disabled list in July, it may only become more difficult for Gee to reemerge as a rotation arm in the weeks to come.
