Gavin Floyd needs Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery and is expected to miss the next 14-19 months. USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported the news this weekend and it was confirmed by the White Sox on Monday. Floyd will be out for the remainder of the 2013 season and a large chunk of the 2014 campaign. He had a 5.18 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 25/12 K/BB ratio in 24 1/3 innings this year before injuring both his flexor muscle and ulnar collateral ligament in late April. Floyd, 30, will be a free agent in November.
